Congratulations to all of you!

While I was starting spring break on a plane to Wisconsin, you were waiting by the computer with sweaty palms. How many times did you click refresh? Probably a lot. If I’m wrong—if you weren’t waiting with bated breath, it’s possible that you’re just not that into WashU. Maybe it’s not at the top of your list, and that’s okay, but I highly, highly  recommend that you visit WashU before deciding that it isn’t the university for you.

When I was a senior in high school, I had to make a tough decision between WashU and another college. I won’t disclose its name, but I can tell you that this other college has very cold weather and a lot of cross-admits with WashU. I was torn between these two schools, but the best thing I ever did was visit both of them. You know when you build up a romanticized image about something in your head and then when you get the real thing you’re disappointed? That’s not what happened with WashU. I had a good idea of what WashU was like, but somehow I managed to underestimate how much I would enjoy it. By the end of my WashU visit, I was hooked. I didn’t want to leave. When I went back to boring old high school, I was actually homesick for WashU! The opposite happened when I visited the other college. I was in love with the other college even though I’d only seen it on the internet. When I visited the other college in person, it only reinforced my decision that WashU was where I wanted to be.

Wow. That was a trip down memory lane. I had kind of forgotten about that. Anyway…

I’ll offer the same invitation to you that I offered to the ED students: Please feel free to ask me questions about WashU in the comments below. I have a lot of information about the WashU experience (or at least a lot compared to what I knew as a high school senior), and I would love to help you by answering your questions. Don’t be shy! Your queries will be answered either in a blog post or directly in the comments.

Congrats again!

Sincerely,
Dera
